Women’s Basketball Hosts UMass Lowell Saturday at 1PM


BRONX, N.Y. – Playing their first weekend home game this season Fordham University women’s basketball takes on UMass Lowell Saturday afternoon at the Rose Hill Gym. Tipping off at 1:00 p.m. the game will be broadcast live on SNY as well as ESPN+.

Saturday’s game is jersey day with all children wearing a jersey receiving free entrance to the game. In addition, the Rams will welcome the newest member of the team, as Fordham Women’s Basketball partners with Team IMPACT this season.

Fordham Fast Pass

  • Fordham enters play 3-2 with victories over Adelphi and UAlbany out of the gates.

  • Coming off an 85-44 victory over Georgian Court, the Rams saw six different players tally double digit points in the contest.

  • Last time out the Rams drained eight field goals from beyond the arc, the most in a game this season.

  • Fordham also assisted on 50% of their made shots, dishing out 18 dimes on 32 made baskets, also a season-best as a team.

  • The Rams have tallied double digit steals in each of the first five games of the season, averaging and even 12 per game thus far.

  • Fordham is averaging almost four more rebounds per game than their opponents, collecting 39.0 on average compared to 35.2 by opposing teams.

  • Aminata Ly tallied the first double-double by a  Fordham player this season, scoring 10 points and pulling down ten rebounds against Manhattan. Ly also paces the Rams’ efforts on the glass, with 6.6 boards per contest.

  • Matilda Flood leads the teams with 12 steals, and sits second the team through the early portion of the year, averaging 5.0 rebounds per game and also .

In addition the A-10 deal with ESPN will see the full slate of 18 Fordham home games broadcast on the ESPN family of networks, the 2023-24 Rams will have 10 total games broadcast on regional sports networks. Last Friday served as the first of six broadcasts for Fordham women’s basketball on Sportsnet New York (SNY), with Saturday marking the second game in that stretch.

The Rams will also play four games on a network familiar to Bronx sports fans, with the YES (Yankees Entertainment & Sports) Network hosting four games, two in non-conference play and a pair of A-10 dates in late January. 

Fordham will take on Davidson on National television Jan. 14, 2024 when the Rams and Wildcats square off from the Rose Hill Gym on CBS Sports Network.

The Lowell Low-Down

Still seeking their first victory of the young season, UMass Lowell enters the weekend 0-5 despite a number of close games out of the gates. The Riverhawks suffered a two point loss at Boston University to open the year, and fell by two to Le Moyne a week ago. Most recently playing Tuesday UMass Lowell is coming off a nine point loss to CCSU, on the road in Connecticut, where Tasha Lima led the way with 11 points, ahead of two players with nine apiece. Lima and Mili Carerra pace the team on offense, averaging 11.0 points each.

Making a House a Home

The 2023-24 calendar starts with a litany of home games for the Rams, who will play seven of their first eight games in the friendly confines of the Rose Hill Gym. With the lone trip out of The Bronx coming last weekend with a visit to Miami, Fordham will play five straight games at home from Nov. 16 to Dec. 2. That stretch began with the annual “Battle of the Bronx” when the Rams hosted Manhattan, the first of six games broadcast on SNY this season. Taking on Georgian Court just before Thanksgiving, Fordham takes on UMass Lowell Saturday, followed by matchups with Saint Peter’s and Maine next week.

Next Stop

A quick turnaround before their next home game, Fordham women’s basketball returns to action Tuesday night when they take on Saint Peter’s at 7:00 p.m.
