LOUISVILLE, Ky. — The Bellarmine University women’s basketball team will resume action after the Thanksgiving break with a 7 p.m. (ET) contest Wednesday at Evansville in Meeks Family Fieldhouse.

Bellarmine (0-4) and Evansville (1-4) have played every season since the Knights’ transition to Division I in 2020-21. The Purple Aces claimed the first two matchups, but Bellarmine captured a 60-40 win last season in Freedom Hall, with the margin of victory tying for the second most against a D1 opponent in the D1 era.

A member of the Missouri Valley Conference, Evansville has already played two of Bellarmine’s ASUN colleagues, falling 77-58 to Lipscomb and 77-75 to Eastern Kentucky, both at home. The Purple Aces notched their first win Sunday after defeating Chicago State 103-102 in triple overtime on the road.

Kynidi Mason Striverson poured in 27 points against Chicago State and is averaging 18.8 points and 4.6 assists for Evansville. Maggie Hartwig has largely come off the bench but been among the Purple Aces’ most productive players, nearly averaging a double-double at 11.4 points and 8.0 rebounds per game.

Evansville is the fifth of six straight road games to start the season for Bellarmine. The Knights are coming off a 108-78 loss to the Purple Aces’ MVC counterpart Murray State on Nov. 21 in which they were within nine with less than four minutes remaining in the third quarter before the Racers pulled away with a 19-7 run to end the period.

Junior guard Hayley Harrison is averaging a team-high 14.3 points and posted 16 against Murray State. Senior guard Claire Knies is just under double figures at 9.5 points per game. Sophomore forward Paetynn Gray is fresh off an 11-point game and is the team’s leading rebounder (4.3), while junior guard Hope Sivori is averaging a team-best 3.8 assists.
