Last Whistle
Bowie State regrouped from Tuesday’s setback to Johnson C. Smith in a big way on Thursday against Winston-Salem State, defeating the Rams 58-28. The Bulldogs did that in a major way by holding WSSU to a shooting percentage of 28-percent. BSU took a 10-1 lead after the first quarter and never looked back. The Bulldogs (7-3, 2-1 CIAA) had three players score in double figures, led by Katerra Myers, who had 13 points, six rebounds and three steals. Tsion Smith added 12 points off of the bench and Anii Harris chipped in as well with 11 points and two blocks. Harris pulled down three offensive rebounds to pace an offense that racked up second chance opportunities for Bowie State, grabbing 13 boards and turning them into 10 second chance points.

Scouting Livingstone
The Lady Blue Bears come to A.C. Jordan Arena with a 1-3 record and 0-2 mark in the CIAA. The two conference losses were both on the road, falling to Bluefield State, 61-47 and Virginia Union, 66-60 most recently on Thursday. In the setback against VUU, three LC players finished in double figure scoring led by Samiyah Briggs who finished with 16 points. Briggs is the team’s leading scorer, averaging 13 points per game while Jamiah Lane owns a team-best 5.8 rebounds per outing. Livingstone finished 11-18 overall and 5-12 in the CIAA last season with the season capped by a 66-63 loss to Virginia State in the CIAA quarterfinal round in Balitmore, Md. Queen Smith is in her first season at the helm of the Lady Blue Bears program.
