Women’s Basketball to Play in 2023 Cherokee Invitational – University of Tennessee at Chattanooga Athletics


CHEROKEE, N.C. — Chattanooga women’s basketball will officially be taking part in the 2023 Cherokee Invitational hosted by Harrah’s Cherokee Casino Resort, December 20-21 this year.

In addition to the Mocs, the 2023 Cherokee Invitational field will include Coastal Carolina, Michigan State and Richmond. This marks the tournament’s second year of existence, as the pre-Christmas tournament will feature a total of four games for those in attendance to be able to watch.

The Mocs will first clash with Coastal Carolina on Wednesday, December 20, at 7 p.m. ET in the tournament’s opening round. If the Mocs lose on Wednesday, they would then take on the loser of Michigan State-Richmond at 7 p.m. ET on Thursday, December 21. A win against Coastal would pit the Mocs against the winner of the Spartans-Spiders matchup, with that game’s tip currently set for 45 minutes following Thursday’s loser’s bracket game.

Tickets for this event are extremely limited and are being sold with a few different options. The capacity for the event is just 700 spectators per session. Each school will be permitted four complimentary tickets per player and coach for the sessions in which their team plays. That will call list will be due five days prior to the event. A full schedule of the games including each session name can be found below.

Tickets will be available for pick up beginning at 5 p.m. ET on Wednesday, December 20 at will call at the Event Center of Harrah’s Cherokee Casino Resort. Advance tickets can only be purchased online through the event’s ticketing portal, located here. Any remaining tickets will be available on site for purchase beginning at the welcome reception on Tuesday, December 19 at 8 p.m. ET at the Convention Center and Event Center during both competition days.

The Cherokee Invitational will also be hosting a 48-team high school tournament alongside the college tournament. A full schedule for the high school tournament can be found here.

TICKET OPTIONS
Sideline Front Row Tickets: There are 60 front row sideline seats. These seats are available as a four-session package for just $125 each.  Ticket holders in this category will not have to leave the venue between sessions.  Seating will be on a first come, first serve basis but each ticket holder will be guaranteed a front row seat.  

Lower Bowl General Admission: The remainder of tickets in the lower bowl will be sold as general admission.  After front row tickets and will call tickets, the tournament will offer 340 general admission tickets per session for $22.50.  Each session has its own capacity, so it is recommended that you purchase your November 20 tickets up front and then wait until after the first game to purchase either session three or four.  

Luxury Box General Admission: The tournament will have two luxury boxes with a seating capacity of 20 in each box.  Like the front row tickets, luxury box ticket holders will be able to stay in their box in between sessions and their tickets will be good for all four sessions.  Small hor d’ourves will be offered and there will be a waitressing service available for purchasing additional food and beverages. Cost for this section is just $250 per person.

Private Suites: In addition to the two luxury boxes there are two private suites.  Each suite is private and can hold 4-6 spectators.  Private suite ticket holders will have access to their box for all four sessions and like the luxury box ticket holders, they will have some small hor d’ourves as well as a waitressing service for additional food and beverage purchases. Spectators who purchase a private suite can bring five guests with them each night.  The cost for the private suite is $1500 and includes six tickets per night.

Thursday, December 21, 2023
Session 3 – Loser Session 1 vs. Loser Session 2 – 7 p.m. ET
Session 4 – Winner Session 1 vs. Winner Session 2 – Approximately 45 minutes after the conclusion of Session 3

50 SEASONS OF CHATTANOOGA WOMEN’S BASKETBALL
The 2023 season for the Chattanooga women’s basketball team marks a major landmark for the program and the university, as UTC women’s basketball officially celebrates its 50th season of competition as a university sponsored athletic program. Following the adoption of the Title IX legislation back in 1972, UTC added women’s basketball, tennis and volleyball programs to its roster of athletic teams, bringing on five decades of history and success for each of the teams. Chattanooga WBB will be putting on multiple promotions and content pieces throughout the 2023-24 to celebrate the program’s history, culminating in the team hosting its 50th Season Celebration and Reunion during the Mocs’ February 3 matchup against Furman at McKenzie Arena.
