Women’s Tennis Adds Six More Wins in Day Two of the Harvard Invite


CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – Harvard women’s tennis continued play on its home courts in the Harvard Invite this afternoon.  The Crimson had another strong day collecting three out of four doubles victories and three additional singles wins. 
 
Kavya Karra and Stephanie Yakoff continued with their early season success by breezing to a 6-2 win over Gayathri Krishnan/Sophia Strugnell (Columbia).  The first-year duo sits atop the team in doubles wins, improving to 7-2 today. 
 
A pair of new Crimson duos won their first matches of the season today as Natalie Block and Sany Gawande won 6-2 and Kate Kim and Charlotte Owensby defeated their opponents, 6-4. 
 
Moving into singles, Yakoff won her second singles match of the season to improve to 7-2 for the year.  After winning a close first set in tiebreakers, the Crimson first-year posted a commanding 6-2 victory in the second to close out the match over Sophia Strugnell (Columbia). 
 
In her first competition day of the tournament, Gawande dominated her singles match defeating Rachele Rimondini.  In the straight set victory Gwande dropped a team low, one game, to win 6-0, 6-1.
