CHATTANOOGA (Jan. 20, 2024) — The Chattanooga Mocs women’s tennis team was forced to compete shorthanded in its 2024 home opener and battled for every point during an eventual 6-1 defeat to Middle Tennessee inside the Strang-Voges Tennis Center on Saturday afternoon.
Following the loss, Chattanooga opens the young season 0-2 following last week’s defeat to nationally ranked Tennessee. Middle Tennessee improves to 2-1 after the victory.
Down a pair of players for the match, UTC was forced to default its No. 3 doubles pairing and its No. 6 singles pairing, allowing Middle Tennessee to start with an advantage. Despite being shorthanded, the Mocs showed extreme fight across the board.
“It was a good fight today from everyone,” said head coach Chad Camper following the match. “We were short players, but the women fought for every single point.”
Full match results can be found below. Chattanooga (0-2) returns to action tomorrow inside the Strang-Voges Tennis Center at McCallie School and will take on Tennessee State at 12 p.m.
