Chapel Hill, N.C. – The Coastal Carolina women’s tennis team concluded play at the ITA Carolina Regionals in Chapel Hill, N.C. today in the consolation round of singles and the main draw of extra singles.
Day three started off with Aida Maria Mitrache in the 9:00 a.m. window in the opening round of the main draw of extra singles. After a pair of wins during the first two days of play, the freshman unfortunately ended her tournament run in a 6-4, 7-5 defeat to Elon’s Ella Suk.
In the 10:30 a.m. window, Jesse Hollins, Anna Babayan were in play for the Lady Chants. Hollins lost to Wake Forest’s Nevena Carton in the first round of the A1 consolation singles draw and Babayan lost to Furman’s Maeve Thornton in the A2 consolation singles round.
Also in the 10:30 window, and in the final match for CCU in the 2023 Fall ITA Carolina Regionals, senior Kata Foldeak featured in the main draw of the second bracket of extra singles. Foldeak was able to come away with the lone victory on the day for Coastal, defeating NC State’s Reya Coe by a score of 7-6 (3), 6-4.
The Lady Chants will close out their 2023 fall schedule with a trip to Elon, N.C. for the Jimmy Powell Invitational on Oct. 27-28.
