Women’s Tennis Concludes Fall Season at Harvard Invitational


CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – The Columbia women’s tennis team will conclude its fall season this weekend at the Harvard Invitational. The Lions will begin action on Friday, November 3 and wrap up on Sunday, November 5.
 
The Lions wrap up the fall schedule this weekend after playing in the Fordham Invite two weeks ago. Salma Farhat, Anna Zhang and Sophia Wang earned a spot in the ITA Super Regionals and played in that tournament instead of the Fordham Invite.
 
Out of the three Lions playing singles in the ITA supers, Farhat was the only individual that picked up a win. The first-year posted a 4-6, 6-3, 7-6(4) win over Cornell’s Michelle Ryndin to earn a spot in the round of 16, where she fell to Princeton’s Neha Velaga, 2-6, 2-6. Anna Zhang and Sophia Wang each lost their first matches of super regional action. Wang and Zhang also teamed up for doubles action, but were defeated by Ann Wright Guerry and Orly Ogilvy (Yale) in the first match, 4-6, 3-6.
 
Fatima KeitaGayathri KrishnanRachele RimondiniSophia StrugnellClarine Lerby and Carolyn Brodsky each picked up two singles wins at the Fordham Invite. On the doubles side, first-year Natacha Schou saw her first action as a Lion as she paired up with Clarine Lerby to earn two doubles wins. The duos of Keita/Rimondini and Krishnan/Strugnell also posted two doubles victories at the Fordham Invite.
