Women’s Tennis Defeats Lehigh, 6-1


BETHLEHEM, Pa. – The Drexel women’s tennis team earned its second victory in as many days after defeating the Lehigh Mountain Hawks, 6-1, on Saturday afternoon.
 
Drexel won the doubles point after Lorie Lemongo and Renata Lombera paired in the top-seeded match and defeated their opponents, 6-1. In the second seeded match, Elisa Rigazio and Maddie Ricardo saw an identical outcome.
 
In singles play Rigazio cruised to a 6-0, 6-3 victory in the No. 3 match. Drexel took a 3-0 lead after Lemongo downed her opponent in the top-seeded match with a pair of 6-1 sets. Lombera clinched the match for Drexel in the second-seeded match, 6-1, 7-5.
 
Isabel Cabrerizo handled business in the fourth-seeded match, 6-1, 6-3, while Maddie Ricardo earned a 6-0, 6-1 victory in the No. 6 match.
 
Drexel and Lehigh played a pair of exhibition matches in which Drexel won both. Cabrerizo and Bia Ibrahim took down their opponents in a doubles match, 6-3. In the singles exhibition, Rebecca Fiedler earned an 8-2 victory.
 
Drexel returns to action on Friday, Feb. 2 as the Mount St. Mary’s Mountaineers visit West Philadelphia. First serve is slated for noon.
