CHATTANOOGA (Jan. 26, 2024) — The Chattanooga Mocs women’s tennis team dropped a thrilling and heartbreaking 4-3 decision to North Alabama in a non-conference dual inside the Strang-Voges Tennis Center at McCallie School on Friday evening.

After the tough defeat, Chattanooga falls to 1-3 in the 2024 spring season. North Alabama was competing in its season opener and opens the year at 1-0 after the win.

“We are young in some sports, but after tonight, the future looks very bright for the program.”

North Alabama grabbed an early 1-0 lead after doubles play saw the Lions post victories at both the No. 1 and No. 2 positions. The No. 3 duo of Emma Pedretti and Emma Peeler kicked things off with a commanding 6-0 sweep over UNA’s tandem.

In the deciding match at No. 2 with Madlena Orlova representing the Mocs, UNA’s representative clinched the match in a tie-breaking third set, ultimately scoring a 6-3, 3-6, 7-6 victory.
