Women’s Tennis Drops Match Against Memphis – Ole Miss Athletics

MEMPHIS, Tenn. – Ole Miss women’s tennis took an early lead but fell to Memphis 4-2. Briana Crowley took both her doubles and singles match for Rebels’ points.

Ole Miss (1-1) is showing to be a tough out in doubles, grabbing the first point of the match two straight days against Memphis (2-1). No. 45 Crowley and Ava Hrastar started the match, rolling through Camila Soares and Leonie Moeller in a 6-2 victory.

The other two courts battled it out, but it was the Rebels who pulled away. Kelsey Mize and Andrea Nova won on court three by a score of 7-5, clinching the doubles point in both matches to begin the season.

Crowley pushed the Rebels’ lead to two by dominating at No. 3 singles, defeating Monique Woog, 6-2, 6-1. The senior transfer has yet to lose a set in dual action, outscoring her opponents 24-9.

Unfortunately, Memphis would rattle off four straight singles wins to take the match away from the Rebels.

The Rebels return home in a week, facing Belmont on Saturday, February 3 at 11 a.m. CT.
