Women’s Tennis Drops Spring Opener to Reigning PL Champ Boston Saturday, 7-0


BINGHAMTON, N.Y.Whitney King and Abby Platt earned a win at No. 1 doubles to move to 7-0 against Patriot League teams over the last two years and 10-0 in 2023-24, but the Bison ultimately fell 7-0 to reigning Patriot League champion Boston U. to open the spring schedule on Saturday.

The Terriers begin their spring 2-0 after defeating Bucknell’s Sunday opponent, Binghamton, on Friday and the Bison on Saturday. Boston captured wins on courts two and three to secure the doubles point before King and Platt defeated 2023 First Team All-Patriot League selection Michelle Kleynerman and Uma Bakaityte 6-4 in the No. 1 position.

Boston then went unbeaten in singles for a second day in a row. King provided the biggest challenge to the Terriers on court one before falling 6-3, 7-5 to Kleynerman. The Terriers managed to win each singles match in straight sets. Boston clinched the match with 2023 Second Team All-Leaguer Kaitlin Tan’s 6-1, 6-1 win on court three.

Bucknell remains in New York on Sunday to face the hosting Bearcats at 10 a.m. at the Lane – Starke Tennis Center.
