Women’s Tennis Falls On Friday Night At ISU – Eastern Illinois University Athletics


Eastern Illinois women’s tennis played its second match of the spring season falling on Friday night, 7-0, at Illinois State.  The Panthers return to action on Sunday hosting IUPUI at the Danville Tennis Center.

ISU would win the doubles point with decisions in all three doubles matches.  Playing at No. 1 doubles, Jemma Booth and Addison Brown, pushed their doubles match to 7-5 before suffering the loss.   The Redbirds had already clinched the doubles point with wins at No. 2 and No. 3 doubles.

In singles play Aleyla Wooten, playing at No. 1 singles, and Michelle Kostadinova, playing at No. 5 singles, both had competitive matches before falling in two sets.

Wooten lost to Tijana Zlatanovic dropping the first set 7-5 and the second 6-2.

Kostadinova played to a tie-break in the opening set against Nuria Sanz falling 7-6 (7-4) before a 6-2 set-back in the second. 

Competing at No. 6 singles Luisa Renovales Salazar battled Sofia Rodrigo falling 6-3, 6-4.
