Women’s Tennis Posts Strong Performances in Day One of Harvard Invite


CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – Harvard women’s tennis began play in the final tournament of the 2023 fall season today by taking on opponents of crosstown foe, Boston College.  The Crimson registered three strong wins through singles play in the opening day of the Harvard Invite. 
 
Picking up her third win of the fall season, Maxi Duncan had a strong showing in her singles match, defeating the No. 107 nationally ranked player, Sophia Edwards (Boston College) in straight sets.  Going back and forth in the first set, Duncan was ultimately able to pull ahead to win, 6-4.  To close out the match, the junior posted an even more commanding result by downing the Boston College foe, 6-2, in the second. 
 
First-year Stephanie Yakoff collected her sixth singles win of her collegiate career by defeating Natalie Eordekian (Boston College).  Registering a pair of 6-4 sets, Yakoff breezed to a straight set win to improve to 6-2 overall for the season.
 
Fellow first-year Kate Kim collected the final singles win of the day by battling back against Tola Glowacka (Boston College).  Glowacka was able to take the first set over Kim, 6-3, before Kim evened the match with a 6-2 second set.  Neck and neck in the 10-point tiebreaker, the Crimson first-year was ultimately able to pull ahead, 10-8.  With the win Kim improves to 8-4 in singles this fall, holding the highest number of wins of any Crimson player so far this season.
