OXFORD, Miss – Ole Miss women’s tennis bolstered its future with the signing of Brooklyn Olson to a national letter of intent, head coach Mark Beyers announced on Wednesday.
A Blue Chip five-star recruit from Kansas City, Olson is a huge addition to the navy and red. She is ranked as the No. 26 recruit in the nation with a World Tennis Number of 16.9, according to the Tennis Recruiting Network. It is the Rebels first blue chip five-star since signing Julia Jones in 2011.
“Very excited to add Brooklyn to the squad. She brings a wealth of experience and has had a lot of success on the ITF Junior Circuit both in singles and doubles,” said Beyers. “Brooklyn is an extremely hard worker and a great student who will make an immediate impact for the Rebels.”
Olson started at a young age, joining the ITF under 18 division at the age of 13. In the fall of her first year in the under 18 division, Olson played in five ITF junior tournaments, winning two ITF tournaments in Aruba (J5 Noord) and the Bahamas (J5 Nassau), both ITF Grade 5 singles titles. She also took the doubles title at the J5 Nassau tournament. At the start of February 2020, Olson won a doubles title in Les Petits As, a premier junior tournament, representing Team USA.
She earned her first WTA points at the age of 15, qualifying and winning the first round of a 25K tournament in Alabama. At the age of 16, Olson won five singles matches, advancing to the final of the Eddie Herr International Championships at IMG Academy. She continued to compile doubles title with her run through the ITF J5 Medford tournament.
In 2022, Olson claimed three ITF Grade 4 doubles title in her first three tournament of the year. She won two doubles titles in San Jose and the other in Santo Domingo. Olson and her team won Gold Ball at the USTA Level 1 National Spring Team Championships then individually winning Girls’ 18 Singles USTA L3, all in March 2022.
This past year, Olson went back to San Jose and made the singles finals. A few months later, she would earn another doubles crown at the J100 Tampico in Mexico. At the beginning of October, she competed in the Battle of Boca – Special Edition, advancing to the single semifinals.
