PROVIDENCE, R.I. – Brown women’s tennis is set to begin the 2024 spring season on Sunday at 10 a.m. against Boston College at the Weymouth Club in Weymouth, Mass.
The Bears had successful fall where they competed in numerous tournaments. Most notably, the doubles pair of junior Lindsey Hofflander and sophomore Phoebe Peus posted a 13-4 record, won the ITA Hall of Fame Invitational in Newport, and advanced through the ITA Super Regionals to qualify for Nationals where they competed in two competitive matches.
Peus and Hofflander are currently ranked No. 35 in the country in the ITA doubles rankings. The pair of senior Ali Benedetto and junior Addison Ahlstrom were strong in doubles as well, finishing with a 7-2 record, while the freshmen duo of Anne Yang and Dani Ben-Abraham went 5-3.
In singles, Peus went on a run where she won three consecutive matches at Regionals to advance to Super Regionals, where she joined Benedetto. Peus finished 10-2 in singles play in the fall, while Benedetto was 6-5.
Brown, who won the 2023 ECAC Tournament, returns nine players from last year’s roster: Seniors Nora Lee, Olivia Mariotti and Benedetto, juniors Gabby Soliman, Ahlstrom and Hofflander, and sophomores Vivian Miller, Anne Moody and Peus.
Ben-Abraham, Yang and Hannah Shen are the three newcomers. Ben-Abraham recorded a 4-2 record in the fall, while Yang and Shen each posted 4-3 singles fall records.
