Works of regional high school artists featured at LACA

From paintings, pen and ink drawings, photography, fabric art, jewelry and more, the special talents of young artists were admired by those who attended the Regional High School Exhibit at Ludington Area Center for the Arts on Saturday.

Visitors who came to see the beautiful and intriguing works of art throughout the day also were treated to ice cream, as compliments of House of Flavors.

Adelaide Akins, one of the featured artists, is a ninth-grader at Pentwater High School.

Her work, labeled “Suspicious Minds,” features a series of thought-provoking, humorous comics.

“Suspicious Minds is incorporative of a slice of life, or something you see in day to day perspectives,” she said.

The work took her a few days to complete, using the medium of alcohol markers and paper.

The RHSAE was created to showcase the talent of high school students who are currently attending high school or are home schooled in Mason, Oceana, Manistee and Lake counties.

Area high school artists were asked to submit up to 2 pieces of 2D or 3D artwork for consideration in this exhibit. All students who enter will be given a free 1-year membership to the Ludington Area Center for the Arts.

The exhibit continues until November 23.
