CLARKSBURG, W.Va. (WTAP) – A road worker for the West Virginia Department of Highways is in critical condition after being hit by a car while at the scene of a crash Thursday night.
According to a news release from the Department of Transportation, it happened at about 9:45 p.m. on Route 50 in Clarksburg.
The worker was setting up traffic control devices at the scene of another crash with two other workers when a vehicle crashed into the work zone.
The release says all three workers were hardhats with lights and their truck’s lights were flashing.
The worker has injuries to the head and shoulder and is being treated at Ruby Memorial Hospital in Morgantown.
An official with the Department of Highways says drivers should pay attention and obey laws in work zones.
