‘X-Men’ and ‘Designated Survivor’ Actor Adan Canto Passes Away at the Age of 42


Adan Canto, a Mexican-American actor best known for his part in the television series The Cleaning Lady, died on Monday, January 8, according to several reports.

Variety stated that the late actor died at the age of 42 after a private battle with appendiceal cancer.

“Adan had a depth of spirit that few truly knew. Those who glimpsed it were changed forever,” Canto’s representatives at UTA, Entertainment360, and Viewpoint told Deadline. “He will be greatly missed by so many.”

In The Cleaning Lady, Canto played gangster Arman Morales, who recruits a mother as a cleaner after witnessing a terrible murder. Season 2 finished with Arman in prison, and Season 3 is now shooting and will premiere on March 5.

Canto, who was initially a Mexican singer, made his American acting debut in the murder thriller series The Following, starring Kevin Bacon, in 2013.

He went on to show off his acting flexibility in a variety of different roles, including Sunspot in X-Men: Days of Future Past, as well as important roles in 2 Hearts, Halle Berry’s directorial debut Bruised, and Agent Game.

He has also appeared in Designated Survivor and Narcos on Netflix, among others.

He is survived by his wife Stephanie Ann Canto and his two children, Roman Alder and Eve Josephine.
