Young Actors Theatre headed to NYC for Broadway’s Arts for Autism benefit

Young Actors Theatre is thrilled to announce its performance on Broadway as part of Arts for Autism, a benefit concert held at the New Amsterdam Theatre – home to Disney’s hit musical “Aladdin.”

On June 16, 2025, 30 members of YAT’s audition-based company will perform “On Broadway” and “I Feel the Earth Move” from “Beautiful: The Carole King Musical” at New York’s oldest operating Broadway Theatre. While in the Big Apple, the students will participate in masterclasses and workshops taught by industry professionals and experience Broadway shows.

Arts for Autism is an annual benefit where the biggest names in the industry join performing arts students from around the country onstage to inspire kindness and understanding for those impacted by autism.

YAT previously performed at the concert in 2022, then located at Wicked’s Gershwin Theatre with its creator and composer, Stephen Schwartz. This year, Arts for Autism is hosted by Broadway veteran Michael James Scott, who plays the Genie in Aladdin.

Funds raised from the concert are distributed via an Arts & Community Access Grant program that supports projects like YAT’s sensory-friendly productions, designed to welcome individuals with sensory needs, as well as first-time theatergoers and young children.

To celebrate the endeavor, Young Actors invites the Tallahassee community to a special send-off concert featuring the students, “Before Broadway: An Evening of Young Performers,” on June 12.

This one-night-only event features powerful solo performances that were performed at our 50th Anniversary Gala, as well as the full group material that will be showcased at the Arts for Autism Benefit Concert. Proceeds from Before Broadway will support the nonprofit’s sensory-friendly program effort.
