LEWISTOWN — Freshman Maurie Querry scored a team-high 16 points Monday night to lead the Bishop Guilfoyle girls basketball team to a 54-45 win at Mifflin County in high school basketball play.

The Lady Marauders, who led 40-37 going into the final frame, also got nine points from Amberlyn Petrecca.

Mifflin County (1-2), down 29-28 at halftime, got 22 points from Amelia Leister and eight points from Jalee Bodtorf.

Mariah Hall’s 18 points were tops for the Lady Panthers, who led 33-13 at halftime, including a 23-2 showing in the second quarter. Teammate Leah Swanseen chipped in with 13 points.

The Lady Wildcats got 8 points from Laynie Murray.

Claysburg beaten

MILL HALL — Claysburg-Kimmel found itself in a 14-point hole against Central Mountain after one quarter of play and was never able to recover in an 83-39 loss on the road.

Claysburg-Kimmel received a team-high 19 points from Elias Ritchey and 14 from Brayden Haney in its season-opener.

The Wildcats, who knocked down 13 3-pointers, got a game-high 22 points, including five treys, from Hunter Hoy to improve to 2-0.

Max Verrelli canned four from deep and collected 17 points for Central Mountain.
