Youth Sports Alliance awarded vehicle, prize money

Youth Sports Alliance was awarded a customized Land Rover Defender 130 vehicle and $32,500 in prize money after winning one of six categories in the 2023 Defender Service Awards, presented by Chase.

Youth Sports Alliance runs after-school programs introducing kids to sports and healthy lifestyles with the goal of getting them outside and away from their screens. Evidence suggests that active youth are more likely to succeed in life — physically, emotionally, socially and financially, and they work to bring those benefits to all children regardless of their family finances, gender, race or abilities.

The organization also provides scholarships, clothing, gear, instruction and transportation for students. About 2,400 kids participated last year, coming from diverse backgrounds with more than 30 percent from minority groups, a quarter from low-income families and a growing number of having cognitive or physical challenges.

The awards recognize contributions of non-profit organizations in the United States and Canada making a positive impact in their communities and upholding the Defender’s ethos as a beacon of liberty, according to company officials.

“We are humbled by the widespread community support we received during the voting campaign. This vehicle, generously provided by Land Rover, will change the lives of youth in our community by providing greater access to our programs.” said Youth Sports Alliance Executive Director Emily Fisher. “Our neighbors, our friends, and people who we’ve never met voted for us, often every day. This recognition is a testament to our community’s commitment to get kids off their screens, outdoors and active.”
