Three Oakland men have been charged in a daytime attack outside a Bel-Air home that left one person dead and another critically injured.

The shootings occurred Sept. 13 during what was described as a “follow-home robbery”: The Oakland men allegedly pulled up behind the homeowners’ car and attempted to rob the couple in their driveway, said Los Angeles County District Attorney George Gascón in an announcement Oct. 18.

Shots were fired, and two people were struck: The robbers’ alleged accomplice Mario Melara was killed, and the homeowner was critically wounded.

Social media reports say the wounded man, who remains in the hospital, is Miguel Angel Aguilar, 43, a fitness influencer and the founder of the Self Made Training Facility gym chain. TMZ said the robbers were attempting to take his Rolex watch.

Arrested Oct. 10 in Northern California were three men, two of them 19 and one 18,  Gascón said. They were being held without bail.

All were charged Oct. 18 with one count of murder, one count of second-degree robbery, one count of shooting at an occupied motor vehicle, two counts of attempted second-degree robbery and two counts of assault with a semiautomatic firearm. The man who allegedly shot Aguilar was also charged with one count of attempted murder.

No injury was reported to Aguilar’s wife. TMZ identified her as Priscilla Valles, whose social media accounts say she is a “celebrity hair extensionist.” The couple have two daughters. Their home is off Sunset Boulevard just east of Interstate 405, in Los Angeles’ Bel-Air neighborhood.
