With the New Year comes New Year’s Resolutions.
If you’re like me, fitness may be important but the idea of entering an over-flowing gym is the stuff of nightmares.
No matter how long you study the gym equipment or mentally prepare yourself, if it’s not for you, forcing yourself into that environment that doesn’t align with you will only strengthen any resistance to exercise.
Luckily, we are living in the digital era and almost anything can be found with one quick Google search.
From HIIT workouts to Pilates, over the years, many YouTube fitness gurus have kept me from falling off the fitness wagon completely.
While I can’t say I have always been consistent, these are the five channels I will always return to when I need a reset and a good workout for the mind and body.
Joe Wicks is the man a lot of us likely owe to beginning our exercise journey’s to.
These short yet effective workouts have always been my go-to if I need to find my way back to exercise after a hiatus.
These HIIT work outs are an incredible way to burn off excess energy or anxiety and they’re over before you know it.
For many of his workouts, all you need is you and the mat. However, he has plenty of options that include the use of dumbbells for added weight.
What I love the most about this fitness channel is that the Body Coach isn’t afraid to break a sweat and show he is struggling with you.
Adriene is my place of refuge online when I’ve lost my way mentally.
Exercise is not always about moving quickly or sweating buckets, sometimes it’s just about getting on the mat and moving at the pace of a guiding voice.
Whether it’s burnout, stress, anxiety, or fatigue, Yoga with Adriene is an amazing way to start or close your day off on a positive note.
This Texan yogi has videos for all levels, from beginner to advanced, and there are a bounty of sessions targeted for a variety of things.
I would bet money on it that you will never regret a session with Adrenne.
Pilates was an exercise I had wanted to try for a long time.
The idea of walking into a Pilates studio doesn’t evoke the same fear as a gym. In fact, it’s one I would very much welcome.
However, with work, social events, and fully booked classes, I never seem to find time to fit in off-site sessions.
This is where I owe my introduction and love of Pilates to Nicole.
Nicole has a soothing and encouraging voice, always motivating you to keep going.
Pre-warning: this is a slow and targeted form of exercise and your muscles may be sore the next day, but it is worth it.
If I’m in the mood to exercise and can’t chose what style to do, this YouTube account has always been a fun way to pick one at random.
Growingannanas has a huge variety of exercises to choose from; pilates, HIIT, cardio, dancing, weights, without weights, and so on.
This channel found me when I went in search of a workout that didn’t have any jumping involved on a night where I wanted to avoid making too much noise.
There are so many options for standing workouts, which is great for anyone suffering an injury or for anyone who just doesn’t enjoy up-and-down movement.
If you’re looking to workout with a pal, I recommend No Bad Addiction’s Youtube channel.
In many of their work out videos, you’ll find two fitness coaches completing the sessions together.
While it may not make a difference how many coaches take you through the exercise, it’s nice to feel like you’ve completed a group session.
No Bad Addiction has a wealth of different trainers demonstrating a bounty of different exercises that cover all preferences.
Tip: Bring a towel to these workouts because they get sweaty!
