Eating healthy during the Super Bowl

WATERTOWN, New York (WWNY) – Super Bowl 58 is right around the corner and as you gear up for your party, there are some healthy snacking tips to keep in mind.

Research shows that even substituting with low-fat ingredients can make a big difference to keep you energized for the day.

Cassie Wright, Excellus Bluecross Blueshield’s registered dietitian nutritionist, says not to skip the most important meal of the day.

“‘If I skip breakfast and lunch, I can go and have everything I want at this Super Bowl party.’ But research really shows people tend to way overconsume calories when they do that. So really making sure you’re having a balanced breakfast and lunch, not going into that party completely starving is a really great way for you to be more in control of the choices you’re making when you’re faced with those temptations,” she said.

Those temptations can lead people off of their New Year’s resolutions and healthy habits. But Wright says being mindful about your food is all you need to succeed.
