POTEET, Texas – To promote healthy living among seniors, HealthTexas Primary Care Doctors has launched an innovative initiative where doctors prescribe fresh vegetables alongside medications. Seniors are invited to participate in a special event hosted by HealthTexas in partnership with Community Medicare Partners, scheduled for Tuesday, Feb. 20, 2024, from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. The event will be at Community Medicare Partners at 8645 N. State Hwy 16, Poteet, TX.
During the Produce Giveaway event, seniors will have the opportunity to receive seasonal produce, along with valuable nutrition education such as recipes and healthy eating guidelines, all available free of charge while supplies last. Additionally, each senior will be gifted a bag of produce to take home.
This community service project underscores HealthTexas’ commitment to promoting holistic health and well-being. A licensed agent will be present on-site to address seniors regarding their health coverage or Medicare.
Seniors are encouraged to bring a friend and indulge in fresh seasonal vegetables. It’s important to note that one free bag of produce will be distributed per person, and supplies are limited.
