Hilma Porter, a Registered Dietitian with Intermountain Primary Children’s Hospital stopped by ABC4 News Midday with some great suggestions and tips..
Healthy Snack Options for Kids…
General Tip: Making snack-time enjoyable – engage the kids in making their healthy snacks.
Snack Ideas:
- Yogurt, granola & fresh fruit parfait
- “Ants on a Log” – Celery and peanut butter with raisins
- Mini-Pizzas – Toasted English Muffins with some pizza sauce drizzled on top, low-fat mozzarella cheese
Snacks are a great way to help meet their daily nutritional needs. It’s recommended to provide healthy snack options to children 2-3 times a day, and serve at least an hour or two prior to an established mealtime so it doesn’t interfere with their appetite.
