Rush Bowls, a fast-casual eatery known for its fresh and healthy meals-in-a-bowl, unveiled its latest outpost in New Jersey.

Located at 27 E Broad St. in Westfield, the new store is owned and operated by Reginald and MaryAnn StaRosa, an entrepreneurial couple from Fanwood who believe the concept will work well in the health-conscious Union County community.

Founded 20 years ago in Colorado, Rush Bowls offers customizable, blended, all-natural fruit and vegetable bowls, as well as smoothies, grab-and-go protein bites and specialty treats for dogs featuring bananas, peanut butter, milk and froyo.

The StaRosas told TapInto Westfield that they explored many franchise businesses before deciding to move forward with Rush Bowls, a chain they discovered in Florida.

Besides providing “guilt-free, low-calorie, clean eating,” Rush Bowls “is an option that is sustainable and environmentally responsible,” the duo said.

After launching franchise opportunities in 2016, the brand has grown to 51 restaurants nationwide. Even during the pandemic, Rush Bowls said it experienced continued growth thanks to its ability to meet consumer demand for healthy, grab-and-go meal options.

The company, which was recognized in 2021 as one of top emerging franchises by QSR magazine, said it now has more than 100 additional locations in development across two dozen new markets.

Locally, Rush Bowls opened two other locations in New Jersey over the past year – Lodi and Livingston. Both shops are franchised by Joseph and Joe Treanor, a father-and-son team from Bergen County.

Along with limited indoor seating, Rush Bowls in Westfield offers pick-up and delivery options, including online ordering via the brand’s mobile app. Catering options are also available.

Its hours are 9 a.m. to 9 p.m., Monday to Wednesday, 9 a.m. to 10 p.m. Thursday to Saturday and 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. Sunday.
