Tani Wojcinski has taught fitness classes for 26 years at universities, health clinics and other exercise spaces wherever she lived.
Now she has a new workout studio in Youngstown, Legacy X Fitness, which opened on Monday at 134 Lockport St., where Curtain Call Dance Academy formerly operated.
She is currently the studio’s only instructor, offering classes at 9 a.m., 4:45 p.m., and 6 p.m. Monday through Thursday, along with one 9 a.m. class on Fridays. They include mat pilates, a strength and cardio exercise format, mobility, stability, and overall strength, and a 20-20-20 format.
“It was a dream for a couple of years, I just didn’t find the right location,” Wojcinski said, who got the keys to the space on the first of the year. “The opportunity opened itself up.”
Originally from Hawaii, Wojcinski moved to Western New York 10 years ago as her husband is from the Fredonia-Dunkirk area of Chautauqua County. She has her bachelor’s degree in exercise physiology and a masters in health promotion, calling it her passion to have people understand the importance of muscle fitness and working with menopausal women.
After the COVID-19 pandemic, she started teaching classes in Youngstown and Lewiston, but quickly outgrew the spaces used with 30 to 40 people coming to those.
“Everywhere I’ve lived, I taught classes,” Wojcinski said, having taught at Riverview Fitness as well as pilates classes at Youngstown’s Red Brick building.
Wojcinski said she already has other instructors reaching out wanting to join the team, hoping that would lead to more early morning and weekend classes. She also wants to start other wellness workshops focusing on meal preparation, hormone regulations, and gut health and weight loss challenges.
