LEWISTON, Idaho – For anyone looking to make healthy changes in their life, one of the most trying but important times of the year is the holiday season.
“Really from October to January that is when people struggle typically the most to maintain a schedule, and to make healthy options,” Nicole Lenz, owner-operator of Simply Living Better.
Lenz says she has seen people trying to make this jump for themselves, and she gives an example of having a plan for what you do and don’t want for your health, especially around the seasonal temptations.
“I’m going to allow myself to enjoy a treat a day, you know, that’s okay, as long as you have your other routines in place. Like you’re not going to give up your exercise this holiday season, even though it’s dark, even though it’s cold, even though it’s rainy,” Lenz said.
She says one way that folks can get help towards keeping health goals is simply to have someone in your corner.
However, depending on the person, and what they need to be successful, that can look quite different.
“Some people like to have that encouragement of other people, and all working together, talking about healthy ideas, recipes, plans. Sometimes people just need someone kind of holding their hand all the way through that process just in that one-on-one,” Lenz said.
