Do you remember earlier this year, there was much talk and angst about the impending closure of FoxCare Fitness in Oneonta? Well I have a very good news update for you! The new facility: Y Specialty Fitness is a collaboration between the Oneonta YMCA and Bassett Healthcare. Both parties have stepped up with investments of time, money and staff. Quite frankly, what has been accomplished is nothing short of amazing.
Unfortunately, in the midst of all the great work, the aquatics area had to close for repairs to equipment. It involved hardware, software, custom designing and pool resurfacing. Can you read between the lines and see tons of dollars? Thank-you to the staff and management of Bassett Healthcare for making this significant investment to improve the aquatics area. Thank you to our partners at the YMCA and Hartwick College who offered up pool hours in the interim. People and organizations came together to make this all happen to support our local community, and gratitude is important.
So where are we now? There’s lots to talk about. With fitness classes doubled, more trainers and instructors, extended hours and so much more, the staff and management at the YMCA and the the new Y Specialty Fitness have accomplished so much and we can see it with the new faces that are coming to check it out. Winter is coming and, with more time indoors, exercise is a great remedy to short days and the season. I encourage you to stop in and see for yourself: the new Y Specialty Fitness.
