The newly opened John Reed Fitness in West Hollywood was evacuated this morning after a 911 call reported a fire at the commercial structure. Smoke was reported coming from the roof of the high end gym. Three LA County Fire Department trucks were on the scene along with West Hollywood Sheriff deputies.
The gym was evacuated this morning at roughly 9:30/9:45 a.m. A video on Citizen shows firefighters climbing a fire truck ladder to investigate the rooftop of the gym.
According to a source, smoke was seen coming from a lighting fixture inside the gym, but there was no major fire. The issue appears to be an electrical short. The gym was evacuated while firefighters did their investigation. It is not yet clear if the gym plans to stay open or close for the day to fix the issue.
The new John Reed Fitness gym opened in West Hollywood in late October.
