Coleman Fitness Boost Ahead Of United Visit

Seamus Coleman is in contention to make his return to Senior Team action when Manchester United head to Goodison Park on Sunday (4.30pm GMT) – but Amadou Onana is likely to miss the clash.

The Blues return to Goodison following the international break looking to build on an impressive four-game unbeaten run that has returned away wins over West Ham United and Crystal Palace, as well as victory over Burnley and a point against Brighton & Hove Albion on home soil.

Club captain Coleman has resumed full training having overcome a significant knee injury sustained at Leicester City in early May.

The right-back also played 90 minutes for the first time since that setback in the Under-21s’ 1-0 win over Spanish outfit Athletic Club in midweek.

“Seamus came through it with no problem and I spoke to him about it, I think when you come through 90 minutes after a long injury, that is kind of the final marker, really,” said Dyche in Friday’s pre-match press conference. “So I certainly think he will be around it.

“He’s been training very well and he’s a great voice around the place, as we know.”

Onana, meanwhile, returned to Merseyside early from his duties with Belgium, having missed the 1-1 draw with Brighton earlier this month due to a tight calf and managing only the first half against Palace last time out with the same issue.

Discussing Onana, who is one appearance away from a half century for Everton, Dyche said: “Ama’s calf, I don’t think will be right. It’s still sore.”

Dele (groin) and Andre Gomes (calf) remain sidelined for the Toffees, but both players are making progress in their respective recovery programmes.

“Andre is back on the grass with us,” explained Dyche. “He’s had a very frustrating season so far but he’s back on the grass with us. He needs a bit of time – he needs games, obviously, but he’s back around it.

“Then, Dele, it’s good to see him back on the grass. He’s still tentative at the moment with the Sports Science side of things, as regards to not joining in with us [fully] but he’s joined in a couple of warm-ups and he’s feeling his way back in. It will be really pleasing if we can get him fit as well.”
