LITTLE ROCK (KATV) — As the temptation of the holidays offer ample opportunities to overindulge in unhealthy treats, one Arkansas hospital network is showcasing a variety of heart-healthy food that promises to keep things festive.
CHI St. Vincent on Saturday hosted a cooking class with special guest Santa Claus at Park Plaza mall.
During the event, families got to sample healthy breakfast bites, meet the one-and-only Santa, and receive a “Healthy Foodie” cookbook.
CHI St. Vincent and Park Plaza said they partnered to present a “make-ahead food option to keep the holidays healthy, festive, and centered around family.”
“The basics for heart health has to do with your diet,” said Bonnie Ward, director of communication and marketing at CHI St. Vincent. “Every single recipe in this booklet is low-sodium, low-fat. We have everything from salads to side dishes to breakfast items. You can start eating heart-healthy even before you have blood pressure problems or have a heart disease diagnosis…so, start with the food that you eat.”
CHI St. Vincent and Park Plaza said their next monthly event is schedule for Jan. 27.
