Authorities in Jacksonville say they are investigating the potential discovery of human remains.

Officials with the Jacksonville Center of Public Safety say that they responded to the area of Crunch Fitness around 3 p.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 20, in reference to possible human remains. The area is located off of Gum Branch Rd.

Officials say they are working with the State Medical Examiner’s office to determine if the remains are ongoing.

It was noted by officials that due to the apparently age of the possible remains that it is not believed to be a recently deceased person.
