Chobani hosts ‘Let’s Eat Week’

Wednesday, October 16th is World Food Day. It’s a time to promote global awareness and action for those who suffer from hunger, and to highlight the need to ensure healthy diets for all. Chobani has nearly 40 organizations packing and distributing thousands of boxes with breakfast meal kits. Don Brown is the Senior Community Impact Manager for Chobani. He addressed the many volunteers who came out to help.

“3500 boxes being made just here in Central New York and you guys are going to have your hand in helping to feed children in our communities. Thank you so much, you guys are doing awesome! Let’s keep going….”

Chobani is dedicating a weeklong effort to ensure those who need food get it.

All the food packaged in New Berlin will go to organizations that serve local communities, and Chobani is taking their efforts one step further. Chobani Chief Impact Officer Nishant Roy talked about the efforts beyond New Berlin.

“We’re going to be doing this here in South Edmeston, in Muskegon, Michigan, in Twin Falls, Idaho where are 3 major plants are. We also have a roasting plant for La Colombe that’s in Philadelphia, and we’ll be producing meals there as well.”

Each kit contains nutrient dense ingrediencies and a handwritten note. Afton High School Volunteer Kaden Kehoe and Chobani’s California Regional Sales Execution Nelda Jacobs were having a good time putting the meals together.

“I’m having a really fun time over there. All the workers are really nice and it’s a pretty good atmosphere.”

“We’re pumping in the mood anyway, but I find that with our…most Chobani people, we like to have fun at the same time.”

Nishant Roy says last year Chobani distributed about 14 thousand meals. This year there will be a total of a quarter of a million meals packaged and delivered nationwide.

“If somebody is not on the list and they just learned about ‘Let’s Eat Week’ and they learned about this effort that we’re doing here with Chobani and La Colombe and all the different food businesses that participated, they can certainly reach out to folks here at Chobani and we can get them incorporated into the next mix.”
