Free lessons on healthy lifestyles for young children

MACHIAS — Healthy Acadia is partnering with Porter Memorial Library to offer “Eat Well, Play Hard,” a free lesson series aimed at teaching healthy lifestyles to children aged 3-5 years.

According to a reelase from Healthy Acadia, Eat Well, Play Hard, the series from Maine SNAP-Ed, is designed to teach young children aged 3-5 years about healthy eating and the importance of regular physical activity.

Healthy Acadia Maine SNAP-Ed Nutrition Educator Shannon Cherry will offer four Eat Well, Play Hard lessons at the library this spring. The lessons will be scheduled during a selected story time each month, from March to June. Each session will include a story, explore a new food, and a healthy food-centered activity. The first session will be held on Tuesday, March 5, 2024, at 11 a.m., during story time at the children’s library.
