SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (Dakota News Now) – On Saturday, the third annual Yoga for a Cause was held at Ignite Fitness Studio to address and bring awareness to eating disorders.
There were three classes in the morning where attendees were encouraged to make a free-will donation.
All the proceeds from the event went towards Victus, an organization made up of special counselors who provide the tools and support needed to overcome an eating disorder.
“Over 20 years ago, I went through a period where I struggled with anorexia and needed to go out of state for treatment because there was nothing here in South Dakota,” said the event’s founder Shannon Nielsen. “It’s just awesome to see that something is starting here. So supporting Victus and getting the word out about Victus is hopefully helping it grow here in our community to help it serve more people.”
If you were unable to attend Saturday’s classes, another will be held on Sunday at 6:30 p.m. You can learn more here.
