Judge sentences second man in Carolina Forest Planet Fitness murder case


HORRY COUNTY, S.C. (WMBF) – A day after a Connecticut man was handed a life sentence for the murder of a CCU student, his co-defendant learned his fate.

Branden Huertas, of Connecticut, pleaded guilty on May 29 for accessory after the fact to murder in connection with the shooting death of 20-year-old David Roldan-Dimas.

Roldan-Dimas, a CCU student, was found dead in his car in the Carolina Forest Planet Fitness parking lot in 2023. He was in the parking lot waiting for his girlfriend and her younger brother when Huertas’ co-defendant, Abdullah Seifullah, approached him and shot him in an attempt to steal the car.

It was determined that Huertas was driving the car in which Seifullah escaped.

A judge sentenced Huertas to 15 years for his charges. The sentence was suspended to 10 years in prison and three years on probation.

Huertas will also be required to get mental health treatment, drug and alcohol treatment, and counseling during his probation.
