Urologist Yoon Ha-na, who is known for being the country’s first female physician specializing in urology, once again grabbed the headlines as she recently earned a fitness championship award.
The professor of urology at Ewha Womans University Medical Center took fourth spot at a senior division of the MAXQ Musclemania Fitness Korea Championship on Oct. 7.
This marked the second time she has been awarded at the fitness championship after she earned two medals in 2021.
Yoon has challenged herself through weight training and diet management to participate in the championship again.
Her achievement was meaningful as she has overcome high blood pressure, hyperlipidemia, diabetes and a slipped disc as well as the effects of yo-yo dieting.
“I began weight training and pilates to break out of my comfort zone and made efforts to maintain a healthier body than the one I had in 2021,” Yoon said. “I am glad as I could protect my health and at the same time could motivate my patients who need exercise.”
Yoon said she is currently working to combine exercise into treatments for urological diseases.
Under this initiative, Ewha Womans University Medical Center has offered pilates and yoga programs to local residents.
