- Madonna dropped a new photo on her Instagram Story showing off her super-sculpted legs in fishnets as she took the stage in London while on tour.
- For her workouts, the singer likes to mix things up, but loves doing Pilates.
- Madonna has had a lot of health complications lately, but she seems to be doing better than ever now.
The Queen of Pop is off on a world tour at age 65, and TBH, she is just as strong as she was back on The Virgin Tour back in the 1980s. Recently, Madonna took the stage in London, rocking fishnets and boots, and looking like an absolute star.
“Let’s kick some ass,” Madonna captioned a photo of her doing a high kick with her guitar on stage. She is living it up, and I’m here for it. Of course, it was also impossible to miss how epically sculpted her legs are in the outfit. Go, Madonna, go!
Here’s the pic from her IG Story, in case you missed it:
And another from the concert:
It hasn’t been an easy road to get to this epic performance, though. Madonna had a serious health scare at the start of the tour in June. Madonna’s team shared that she had to go to the hospital and spend some time in the ICU due to a serious bacterial infection, per The Guardian.
She also had some health setbacks during her previous tour, Madame X, when she suffered a hip injury. In fact, Madonna actually had to have a hip replacement following that tour.
“I was in more pain than I’ve ever been in my life,” she shared later, per The Guardian. “So, how do I stay in shape? It’s all in your head … It’s called will, it’s called no one’s gonna stop me, and how I stay in shape is no one’s gonna stop me. And how I stay in shape is I don’t believe in limitations.”
So, what’s the pop star doing to make sure she crushes it through her 40th anniversary tour? Women’s Health has some insights and answers for you.
First, she did rehab to heal from the hip injury, which from the looks of her Instagram, seemed pretty intense. Madonna was foam-rolling her injury in a bit of agony in one of her IG posts.
“I used to be, like, a fitness/workout maniac,” she told Extra, per The Guardian, adding that the surgery slowed her down, but only for a little while.
Once her hip was in a more stable place, Madonna went back to one of her go-to workouts– Pilates. This low-impact workout helps tone and sculpt muscles, and is great for building strength, particularly around the hips, core, and pelvic floor.
Madonna’s trainer Craig Smith told People the two used a lot of dance-based exercises to tone her body. Their workouts included a mix of asana yoga, Bar Method, and of course, Pilates. Mixing up the workouts kept Madonna’s body in a “guesswork state,” he said.
When it comes to nutrition, Madonna doesn’t share too much about what she’s eating these days. But in her fifties, she followed a strict macrobiotic diet that eliminated wheat, eggs, meats, and dairy from the diet in favor of vegetables, per The Cut. Unclear if Madge is still keeping up with this diet, though.
