ROANOKE, Va. (WDBJ) – Your money will go further this weekend at the Downtown Roanoke Farmers’ Market thanks to its Mega Market Match program.

This means each dollar spent on an EBT or SNAP token will be matched dollar-for-dollar, up to $100.

The program is sponsored by Member One Credit union as a way to encourage people to stretch their food budget by buying healthy food.

”You may not be able to have as much access to that fresh local produce, again we want to emphasize that it is local, in a regular grocery store,” Downtown Roanoke Inc. Marketing Director Izzy Post said. “So by being able to match it and stretch it to that $100 limit on these Mega Market Match days, it just let’s them purchase so much more and it goes beyond just the fresh produce to fresh honey and jams as well.”

The Mega Market Match is happening this Saturday, June 15 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.

It will include music by Tyler Parrish and it will feature a blueberry muffin recipe.

If you can’t make it this Saturday, the next Mega Market Match will happen July 13.
