No alarm about Hakan Calhanoglu fitness to face Napoli

There’s no concern for the fitness of Inter Milan midfielder Hakan Calhanoglu ahead of Monday’s Supercoppa Italiana final against Napoli.

This according to Italian news outlet FCInterNews.

Calhanoglu started against Lazio in yesterday evening’s Supercoppa Italiana semifinal against Lazio.

But the Turkish international came off the pitch relatively late on the pitch.

Inter coach Simone Inzaghi replaced Calhanoglu with Kristjan Asllani in the 81st minute.

Initially this mostly seemed to be to give Calhanoglu a rest with the match more than wrapped up, as well as give Asllani the opportunity for a bit of playing time.

Moreover, Calhanoglu had just picked up a yellow card.

That seemed to be a factor as Inzaghi tends to take players off once they are on a booking.

But reports suggested that in addition, Calhanoglu had also experienced some slight muscular soreness.

The 29-year-old indicated to the bench that he had felt some pain. That was immediately followed by Inzaghi making the substitution.

No Alarm For Hakan Calhanoglu Ahead Of Napoli Clash

Calhanoglu had in fact sustained the problem that forced him off whilst making the challenge that he went into the book for, on Lazio winger Gustav Isaksen.

Clearly the former AC Milan man did not suffer a serious injury.

But there could be some doubt regarding Calhanoglu’s availability to face Napoli in the Supercoppa final.

But that’s not the case after all, according to FCIN. The outlet report that the injury is an extremely minor one and will not prevent Calhanoglu from playing against Napoli on Monday.

Meanwhile, Calhanoglu will definitely miss out on Inter’s next league match.

The Turk picked up a suspension for an accumulation of yellow cards after picking up a booking against Monza last weekend.

Therefore, Calhanoglu will miss next weekend’s Serie A match against Fiorentina. He’ll be back available to face Juventus.
