Ohio Nonprofits Receive Grants to Promote Healthy Eating and Address Local Health Issues

In an innovative approach to community health, Trinity Health System has awarded a total of $105,000 in grants to three non-profit organizations in Steubenville, Ohio, under the CommonSpirit Health Community Health Improvement Grant initiative. The Ohio Valley Health Center, Ohio Valley Youth Network, and Urban Mission have received these grants with the common goal of improving community nutrition, thereby addressing local health issues.

Unveiling the Grant Beneficiaries

The Ohio Valley Health Center, a recipient of $42,500, will use the funds for their ‘Free to be Healthy’ program. The Ohio Valley Youth Network, with a grant of $20,000, has plans for broad-based well-being initiatives. Urban Mission, the recipient of $42,000, will provide fresh and healthy meals to the community. A unique collaboration between Urban Mission and the Ohio Valley Health Center will also enable the provision of healthy meals to patients.

Rooting Out Health Issues

The distribution of these grants is the result of a community needs survey. This survey aimed at identifying the root causes of health problems in the local area. With the grant, each organization plans to address these health issues by introducing healthier food options as part of their services. This initiative not only seeks to improve the current health situation but also to prevent future health problems through improved nutrition.

Nurturing the Future Generation

The Ohio Valley Youth Network, alongside its broader initiatives, will use part of its grant to enhance several classes at the Sycamore Youth Center. This is a reflection of the belief in the importance of teaching the younger generation about healthy nutrition as a preventive measure for health issues. The initiative underscores the importance of healthy nutrition as a preventive measure for health issues and reflects a community-centered approach to wellness.
