‘Planet Fitness’ Opening At Warwick Square Shopping Center


WARWICK, PA — Warwick Square, which has been without a main anchor store since the 50,000-square-foot Giant Supermarket moved out, will be getting not one, but two new anchors.

On October 31, Planet Fitness will open at the site of the former Giant Supermarket, which has been divided into two separate units with Planet Fitness leasing 25,289 square feet at the western end of the shopping center and Grocery Outlet leasing 25,191 square feet next to the Hallmark store.

Founded in 1992 in New Hampshire, Planet Fitness is one of the largest and fastest-growing franchisors and operators of fitness centers in the world. The center offers more than 100 cardio and strength equipment pieces, 30-minute circuit training areas, and functional training as well as amenities such as full-service locker rooms, tanning, massage chairs and HydroMassage beds.

When it opens on Tuesday, Planet Fitness will be the center’s largest tenant at 25,289 square feet.

As of June 30, Planet Fitness had more than 18.4 million members and 2,472 stores in 50
states, the District of Columbia, Puerto Rico, Canada, Panama, Mexico and Australia. The Company’s mission is to enhance people’s lives by providing a high-quality fitness experience in a welcoming, non-intimidating environment, which we call the Judgment Free Zone.

New members can join now for $1 down, then $10 per month or $1 down and $19.99 per month (typically $24.99 a month) for a PF Black Card until October 30.

The new facility will be open and fully staffed 24 hours a day, five days a week Monday through Friday from 12 a.m. to 9 p.m. and Saturdays and Sundays from 6 a.m. to 9 p.m.

The shopping center, located on York Road near Almshouse Road, is jointly owned by First Washington Realty of Bethesda, Maryland, and Jacksonville, Florida-based Regency Centers.

The Grocery Outlet, based in Emeryville, California, will soon be joining Planet Fitness at the center. It will be moving into the shopping center next to Planet Fitness.

The company has more than 400 locations in California, Idaho, and the Pacific Northwest and in the Mid-Atlantic including Pennsylvania, New Jersey, and Maryland. Its nearest store is in Warminster.

Grocery Outlet offers a full range of products including fresh produce, meat, deli, and dairy, along with a wide assortment of natural and organic choices. It also carries health and beauty care, as well as seasonal items, the company says.
