Students from The Salon Professional Academy have come up with an event that showcases the latest prom trends while helping high school students purchase a prom dress at an affordable price.
ONALASKA, Wis. (WXOW) – Students from The Salon Professional Academy have come up with an event that showcases the latest prom trends while helping high school students purchase a prom dress at an affordable price.
In 2023 the price of a new prom dress ranged from $300-600. Then you factor in flowers, transportation, hair and makeup and many students are unable to afford it but break the bank to attend prom.
Every year the students at the Salon Professional Academy are tested on what they’ve learned but this year the Academy decided to incorporate a prom event into their lesson plan. Area students play the models.
Organizers say it’s a win win for everyone involved. First, their students get real life practice creating something fun such as prom hairdos and fashion trends.
They also say it teaches their students about giving back. It also exposes some area high school students to a another career path that they might not have considered before today.
