HORRY COUNTY, S.C. (WPDE) — Fifteenth Circuit Solicitor Jimmy Richardson announced that on Friday that Branden Huertas, 43, of Trumbull, Conn., was sentenced in connection with the 2023 murder of 20-year-old David Roldan Dimas.
Huertas pleaded guilty on May 29 to accessory after the fact of murder.
Circuit Court Judge Michael G. Nettles presided over the case and sentenced Huertas to 15 years in prison, which is the maximum sentence for his charge.

However, Nettles suspended that sentence upon Huertas’ service of 10 years in prison and three years on probation, which includes requirements such as mental health treatment, drug and alcohol treatment, and counseling during his probation.
“David Roldan-Dimas, 20, a CCU student, was leaving the Planet Fitness in Carolina Forrest when he was gunned down and killed by Seifullah. Roldan-Dimas insisted on waiting in the parking lot after working out so that his girlfriend and her younger brother would not have to wait alone at night. Roldan-Dimas was inside his black Camaro when Seifullah approached armed with a gun in an apparent attempt to steal the car and shot and killed Roldan-Dimas,” Jimmy Richardson’s office explained.
He was charged alongside Abdullah Seifullah, of Bridgeport, Conn., who was sentenced to five years in prison for possession of a weapon during a violent crime and life in prison for murder after his trial ended on Thursday.
Multiple witnesses testified in Seifullah’s case during the trial this week.
After a cold case detective from the Horry County Police Department, a woman who knows Huertas, and the Planet Fitness general manager testified on the witness stand Wednesday, multiple SLED experts testified on the firearm and DNA evidence of his case.
“David Roldan-Dimas was a wholly innocent young man who was the victim of a random act of violence at the hands of a complete stranger. Convictions like this are especially meaningful because they give justice to an innocent victim and protect others from violent offenders,” Leigh Waller, a senior assistant solicitor who prosecuted Seifullah’s case, said.
Seifullah will not be eligible for parole.
