LATHAM, N.Y. (NEWS10) – With 2024, many are still clinging to their New Year’s resolutions- especially regarding fitness. The ‘New Year, New You: Reinvention Workshop’ at DICK’s Sporting Goods House of Sport is about creating and keeping healthy choices throughout the year.
“We have Best Fitness in the house with four of their best trainers in the Capital District,” said Jared DeGroff, Marketing Manager and Personal Trainer at Best Fitness. “They’re coming and doing a Be Fit class, a hit-style workout with four stations and different equipment.”
Including new OMORPHO weighted vests for participants to try on to help bring workouts to the next level.
“We also have shorts that are weighted, they have shirts that are weighted, tank tops for ladies,” DeGroff said. “Everything is basically micro-loaded to help increase your workout and overall better health.”
The workshop also included goal setting, coaching from certified nutritionists, and, of course…lots of exercise reps.
Danny Pigliavento, Owner and Founder of Capital Sweat, not only partnered with the event, but also was a participant. He says he’s anyone can get involved in the fitness community at any level.
“It’s all about people finding their fitness community,” Pigliavento said. “Sometimes you just want to walk. And that’s their fitness, and that’s okay. We will help you find your community. That’s what we’re here to do.”
Mike Smith, Executive Director of DICK’S Sporting Goods House of Sport, said these events are all about engaging with the community with activities.
“It’s about getting involved in the community, bringing them in, and having fun,” Smith said. “Finding different ways to engage with them, whether through sports, fitness classes, or golf with our simulators… Whatever that looks like.”
For Kenzie Lee, Founder of Baddie Bands, says these fitness events always keep her inspired…not just as a fitness enthusiast, but also as an entrepreneur.
“I’ve met some of the most amazing people and networked so much,” Lee said. “I love it so much. It’s such a fun community.”
