LOUISVILLE, Ky. — Planet Fitness wants to see teens spending their summer working out for free. All 14 to 18 years olds can enjoy a free membership as part of its annual High School Summer Pass initiative.
Memberships are good at any of 2,700 Planet Fitness locations nationwide, including the 21 in Louisville. Teens can sign up by going to any Planet Fitness location or by registering online. Anyone under 18 will need to register with a parent or guardian. The Summer Pass is good through Aug. 31.
“As we enter the seventh summer of High School Summer Pass, Planet Fitness continues to give teens the opportunity to improve their physical and mental health is a safe, Judgement Free environment at no cost,” said Rick Kueber, CEO of Kueber Fitness. “Studies continue to show three out of four youth in the United States do not get the recommended one hour of physical activity per day. It’s always our hope that Kentucky and Southern Indiana teens take advantage of this free membership.”
Planet Fitness and Wired Research conducted an online survey of 1,000 parents with teens between the ages of 14 and 18 to better understand what teens today are experiencing and how to better support them. According to a release from the fitness club, 66% of parents were concerned about their teen’s stress levels and well-being. 72% felt regular exercise could improve their teen’s mental health.
The High School Summer Pass initiative has existed since 2019. Planet Fitness has provided over 10 million memberships and waived more than $300 million in monthly fees nationwide.
