As a former UFC and MMA (mixed martial arts) fighter, Jason Witt has experienced the benefits of keeping in physical shape firsthand.
Exercise had helped in his own life, he said, and he wanted others to experience that too. And how could he make that happen? By opening his own gym and personal training studio.
Since opening in 2020, Witt said Fit House KC has outgrown its original digs off 91st Street and Metcalf Avenue. This spring, the facility celebrated a grand opening at a new larger space slightly further south in Overland Park.
Fit House KC moved to 10701 El Monte St.
- The facility took over a space off Indian Creek Parkway and Roe Avenue, near the Mission Farms shopping center.
- Multiple tenants (a title company and a smaller gym) previously occupied that space, before it was renovated for Fit House KC.
- It’s also near the Premier Baseball facility and the Fox Hill Veterinary Clinic off 107th Street.

The facility offers 24-hour fitness
Fit House KC offers memberships of various price tiers, beginning at $79 monthly.
Members can work with personal trainers, participate in group fitness classes, or work out on their own — using equipment like treadmills, kettlebells, ellipticals and squat racks.
Fit House KC has roughly eight personal trainers, as well as an on-site chiropractor and massage therapist.
The gym is open 24 hours a day, which Witt said helps accommodate people looking to meet their fitness goals despite having busy schedules. The Overland Park facility also has 24-hour surveillance both inside and outside.
“I wanted that person who has to be at work at 7 a.m. to have a place to come and work out, or a nurse who works night shifts,” he said. “People make excuses for not working out — I think time is one of those, and I think money is one of those. So we kind of keep our prices at the lower end, and we also have 24-hour access.”
Fit House KC is for gym-goers of all ability levels
Though Witt is a seasoned exerciser, he said that Fit House KC is for both fitness buffs and people just starting out on their exercise journey.
The gym’s current members vary in age range, with some in their 20s and others in their 70s.
Ultimately, the goal with Fit House KC is to have the variety of equipment and amenities of a gym owned by a large national chain — yet the community factor of a smaller, locally-owned fitness center, he said.
“When you walk into the gym, it has kind of a ‘wow’ factor,” he said. “You get all the amenities, but you still get the smaller-town feel.”
